Stony Hill House, designed by Paul Masi of Bates Masi + Architects, is a stunning modernist residence in East Hampton, Long Island, blending open-plan, glass-walled modernism with traditional vernacular motifs. This 6,300-square-foot home features three connected pavilions and is distinguished by its use of natural and unconventional materials, including cedar shingles, terra-cotta tiles, and thatch panels.
The home’s innovative design creates a harmonious relationship between its rugged landscape and refined architectural elements. The main pavilion, with its expansive living and dining areas separated by a terra-cotta-shingled chimney, offers panoramic views of the lawn and pastures. Thoughtful lighting design enhances the home's interior and exterior, emphasizing textures and materials while creating a warm, inviting ambiance. The design focuses on high-quality craftsmanship and detailing, making it a year-round residence that caters to both family living and entertaining.
