Marrow Fine's flagship boutique in One Paseo has been transformed into a breathtaking space that embodies the vision of customers feeling like jewels within a jewelry box. Bejeweled tones of rose and gold set the scene, featuring a burgundy Memphis Milano-inspired display case, a round floor mirror, and rouge tambour.
Local San Diego decorative artist Sasha Seyb hand-plastered the walls with a plaster and mica emulsion, adding depth, warmth, and a subtle sparkle that catches the sunlight. The intimate "babe cave" at the back of the store, was given a royal makeover with an Art Deco vibe, featuring a flowing, custom mauve velvet couch that hugs pink gem fractal walls.
The lighting design, by NEAL, plays a crucial role in unifying the unique and whimsical space. To highlight the brilliance of the diamonds, cool CCT lighting is used, while warm CCT lighting adds an inviting, bohemian feel. This successful mixing of CCTs creates a balanced and captivating atmosphere. The light is seamlessly integrated into custom millwork, with QTL's Q-CAP flexible fixtures chosen for their small size and ability to adhere to curves, ensuring a clean and cohesive look.
Bells + Whistles, a multidisciplinary interior design studio founded by Barbara Rourke and Jason St John, brought their narrative-driven approach to the project. Originally established as a design-build studio in San Diego, they are now based in L.A. and specialize in creating bespoke interiors for hospitality and select homeowners. Their expertise in incorporating custom elements within furniture, lighting, and sculptural installations is evident in the unique and luxurious design of Marrow Fine.
