Marrow Fine Chicago marks a dazzling entrance into Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood, blending the glamour of Art Deco with modern sophistication.
Inspired by Chicago’s rich Art Deco history, the space features oversized tambour details, soft flowing case lines, and bold geometric shapes, creating vignettes that exude opulence and luxury. The boutique's signature "babe cave," adorned in rich reddish hues, offers an intimate salon privé experience, inviting customers to indulge in private fittings within a warm and welcoming space.
NEAL designed the lighting for Marrow Fine Chicago, ensuring that it enhances the showroom’s luxurious atmosphere and highlights the exquisite jewelry. The lighting is meticulously integrated into the architectural details and bespoke displays, creating a cohesive and immersive experience. Vintage Italian light fixtures from the 1900s add a touch of timeless sophistication, while carefully placed linear LED fixtures accentuate the rich textures of the scarlet crushed velvet, Italian marble terrazzo, and plush broadloom carpet.
The lighting design plays a crucial role in creating a conversation between Jillian Sassone’s intricate jewelry designs and the retail environment. It enhances the monochromatic color palette, highlighting the depth and texture of the hand-troweled Venetian plaster and the sparkle of the displayed jewelry. The carefully balanced lighting creates a synergistic language of designs, inviting customers into Sassone’s creative dream world and transforming the retail experience into an immersive dance.
Bells + Whistles’ visionary approach to design, combined with NEAL’s expert lighting, has earned Marrow Fine Chicago the Platinum award at the 2024 MUSE Design Awards in the Interior Design - Retails, Shops, Department Stores & Mall category. This accolade celebrates their ability to create a social and immersive experience that removes the typical retail awkwardness, transforming Marrow Fine into a true lifestyle brand where ambiance and jewelry coexist harmoniously.
